Health Professionals – How to Quit Holding Yourself Back

What are Our Limits and Who Places Them?

The limits we have are PURE ILLUSION.  They are limits that we built and put upon ourselves.  If you think you can’t do it, you won’t.  It’s that simple.

You can have money, love, purpose, and YOU’RE STILL UNHAPPY.  You’re still unsuccessful.

That’s the saddest part because you can.  You can do ANYTHING you decide you can do as long as you’re willing to put your money, time, effort, where your mouth is and do it.

What are the Keys to Success?

If, on the other hand, you don’t put limits on yourself.  If you consistently challenge yourself, then, you are making progress.

If you want to be depressed and unhappy – quit going forward.

If you want to be successful, commit to something and follow through.

6 Secrets of Consistent Growth:

  1. Change your bad patterns and exercise control
  2. Know your purpose – what is your desired outcome
  3. Read and learn always – 60 minutes per day
  4. Move forward – whether you feel like it or not
  5. Health and wellness is essential – eat clean, pay attention to your lymph system, exercise
  6. Spiritual Growth – feel gratitude (eliminates stress, fear or anger), contribute

Change Your Bad Patterns and Exercise Control

Changing bad patterns and exercising control means looking honestly at the bad pattern, the trigger, and formulating a solution.  For example, if you miss too many appointments, what causes you to miss the appointments?  Say you get carried away in creative activity and time flies, IF I’m going to participate in creative activities around the time you have made other obligations THEN I will set an alarm to notify me when it’s time to prepare for the other obligation.

This is using the if/then strategy set up by New York University Psychology Professor, Peter Gollwitzer.

Know Your Purpose – what is your desired outcome

This doesn’t necessarily apply to your life’s purpose, so much as your purpose for the activity at hand.  What is your desired outcome?  If you’re a health professional working on, or considering spending money on advertising, it’s true, you’re trying to get customers.  Go one deeper – why are you trying to get customers?  Not just to have more people on your list, but to make a difference in the lives of others and share your special gift.  If people learn about you through advertising, you can make a bigger impact with your message.

Read and learn always – 60 minutes per day

One of the best ways to move forward is to learn.  Warren Buffett estimates that he spends 80% of his day reading.  I’m ashamed when I say “I’m too busy” and Warren is reading books for 13 hours a day?  I arrived at that number by allowing him 8 hours for sleep and then taking the 80%.

“I read and think, so I do more reading and thinking, and make less impulse decisions than most people in business.”

According to CNBC, you’re more likely to be rich, smart, emotionally intelligent, and stay mentally sharp if you read.

I don’t know about you, but I think I may want to read more than 60 minutes a day.

Move forward – whether you feel like it or not

This is a feeling many health professionals share.  Especially when they’re feeling like the business is not moving forward and no matter what you do, it isn’t making a difference.  Take a lesson from what you say to your patients/clients.

You have choices.  Figure out what they are and what you can do to help the situation.  Take responsibility will get you moving forward faster than anything.  Once you take responsibility, it frees you up to make a choice.  If you’re blaming someone else, you won’t even know that you have the power to move forward.

You are amazing, take the time to look at your achievements and skills.  Feeling powerful can get you moving forward with conviction.

Action, sometimes you have to set everything else aside and do it.  Tak action and you will gain momentum.

Health and wellness is essential – eat clean, pay attention to your lymph system, exercise

You all know this – I’m not going to preach to the choir.  Health makes it possible to move forward.

Spiritual Growth – feel gratitude (eliminates stress, fear or anger), contribute

Be grateful.  Life can be hard, and when we look at what is right, instead of the bad (no matter how bad), gratitude is a good place to be. Appreciation will help you move forward.

Contribution or helping others makes you feel good.  It is indeed better to give than to receive.  Sometimes, we have to reach outside ourselves and find something more significant than our own needs and wants to see the inspiration, motivation, and drive to move forward.  Giving to others may be the most powerful tool in your tool belt to use to move.  I used this with my very first business venture with THCG.  I created Sharing the Health E-Book, where health professionals came together with recipes and tips.  All proceeds went to JDRF, which gave us a stronger purpose of making it succeed than money.

“My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style.”

Are you a health coach who isn’t getting their business up and running?  Do you feel you are unworthy?  Do you fail to take action?  What are you focusing on?

Are you focusing on what you can control?  Focus on the difference you can make.  Empower yourself with your purpose.

If you don’t have what you want, it’s because you’ve placed limits.  Remove those limits and GO BIG.
