Intention of the Year seems to be the new “resolution”!

I think it is a great idea.  The word I have adopted as my intention is service.

3408108Today’s post was inspired by my techie guru, Nathalie Lussier!   You can click here if you would like to read her lovely post.

I have been in business for 30 years.  The one thing I know above all else, is that the customer is always right.

Second…the customer should always, always get more than what they paid for.

This year I am going to take that to a new level in all of my businesses and all of my life.

It will include customers as well as employees, partners, family and friends.  I am going to spend this year giving more.  It may not be more money…but more time, more value, more attention and more opportunity.

To a year full of service, laughter and lots of love!

Great post! I noticed as soon as I started reading, that the post uses a content technique I write about in my own post, so that was a bit of serendipity I couldn’t resist!
    Cheers,

Gordon, I had to go back and read your post. How funny that you would happen to read mine on the day that you posted about the technique…that I didn’t even know was a technique! There are a lot of inspirational people around me. I am pretty lucky! ~ Cathy

Yay! The shift from goals to intentions is a great one. Our intentions shape our goals. Serving people is certainly something we have to wake up and choose to do every day. It was great reading your inspiration!

Loving this post Cathy! I love your intention of giving! What a great intention for the year! My intention for the year is commitment. Commitment to seeing things grow bigger, commitment to beautiful relationships and commitment to myself.

I love this post Cathy. Giving is always the best. We receive the most back when we continue to give.

You are speaking my language, Cathy! I have never been one to set resolutions, yet I always set intentions for what is next in my life – it feels so much better, just like being of service feels so good – to provide more than expected of talents and heart – it just feels right! Thanks!

Love this – funny because the other day my new mantra is that “Its not about how much you give, its about how much you do.” Like in raising kids – not about the things they get for the holidays but the time spend with them. Time is the most valuable gift you can give someone so you wanting to do more will pay you back in so many ways. Best of luck Cathy and I look forward to hearing more from you! 🙂

Well said Cathy. I have been using intention as a catalyst for change for a while and I love that you have set a 1 word intention for the year because I’ve done the same. My word for the year is ‘relationships’ because I want to improve my relationships, all of them, my interpersonal relationships and relationships with things like time and money.

Cathy – I expect you will receive a great deal this year. I find how much I receive is directly proportional to how much I give. I receive the greatest gifts when I give in service, expecting nothing in return. Love this and will be there with you!!

What an amazing concept to think about at the beginning of the year! I think that we could all use a little bit more of the “giving” attitude rather than always first thinking about “what’s in it for me?”

Setting an intention for the year is so much better than a resolution! Great post, I love the idea and will set one myself. 🙂

Love the idea of setting intentions instead of resolutions! I never set a new year’s resolution until after college, and I only just now realized they were intentions instead of goals. A couple of years it was to learn more about how my finances worked, and how they should work. One year it was just to be overall healthier.

I like your intention of service, and can’t wait to see how you over-deliver!

Thanks Felicity. Maybe I should turn it into a phrase…”service over-delivered”! Thanks. ~Cathy

I for one am happy to give up the word “resolutions” because I never carried those through. Having an “intention” not that I might be able to wrap my brain around that one! Thanks Cathy!

Hi Cathy! I am way behind with the UBC and trying to get caught up. I just posted in the thread for the day in the Facebook group and yours was above my post.

Love the idea of intention, as it is surely my intention to better manage my time and blog more consistently. Another idea I really want to follow, from one of my favorite motivational authors and speakers, Joyce Meyer, is to *initiate solutions.* Since initiate means to cause a process or action to start, it seems appropriate for the new year! Thanks for your post.
