Health Coach University – Social Media

I am immersing myself in social media.

A funny story of how I learned how to use Facebook.  My daughter in law was having a baby in Oklahoma…and I am in Nebraska, I spent the entire day watching my granddaughter be born on Facebook.  I love technology.  I heard when they were headed to the hospital, when she started having contractions…what my son was doing and a lot of funny things her Grandma had to say through the whole delivery.  It was a very long and fun thread…ending with the big prize!  This is what my mom calls “baptism by fire”….I was definitely motivated to learn.  That was 4 years ago.  Last weeks baby came from Oxford, UK (to me in Nebraska) via text messaging.  Pictures and all!  Technology is definitely my friend.

We have a really fun Facebook community.  If you aren’t a “liker” and participator, you should be.  We have fun over there.  It is almost like having a non-stop party.  We solve the world’s problems, collaborate with great ideas, problem solve, make each other laugh (hard)…and we support and inspire each other.  We are lucky to have such a “family-like” community.  Come join in the fun!  https://www.facebook.com/Thehealthcoachgroup

WE HAVE MORE!!!  In the future…we are going to be adding some cool stuff to Pinterest.  We are going to have health coach cards.  Remember the old baseball cards?  Well, we are going to put all of our health coaches on Pinterest!  We can get exposure, trade and refer!  We are adding recipes (yours)!  More exposure…and we are adding health tips, oil, herbal and supplement information….What else would you like to see on Pinterest?  Like us here to see what’s happening!

Twitter…I have to admit…I am WAY behind on tweets.  Tweeting is what we should be doing, according to most social media experts.   I watch my son play hockey (he is in UK…I am smack in the middle of the US)…so I know a little about it…but not enough to get maximum value.  Who would like to go to tweet school with me?  I will pass on some of the juicy stuff I learn.  Right now…I know how to tweet.  I have a feeling I don’t know how to get followers…so anyone who wants to join in our tweeting fun…I am https://twitter.com/CathySykora

Google+  – The vote is out on this.  Not everyone is seeing the value…the only thing is, google is google and they have a ton of SEO clout.  I am going to learn it…I am not so sure I am going to use it.

My granddaughter rocks Instagram.  I will wait for her to get proficient with it.  I will let her do the photos in England and send them back..  I can see where it will really be good for something like that.

You Tube!  Did I tell you that my daughter signed up for the next class at IIN?  She is a personal trainer and very bright (of course), she has been helping me with some work in The Health Coach Group.   I think she is starting in September.  I would like to put some you-tube exercise and cooking classes on the website and thought she could be in charge of that.  Do any of you have exercise or cooking videos you would like to volunteer for exposure?  If you do, send them to Michele@thehealthcoachgroup.com – we would love to see them.

I am taking a huge social media course right now.  I want to learn the right way.  I will try to pass things on to you as we go.  I am 6 weeks in.  It has been pretty easy so far because it is all Facebook.  I have been doing the “search for the things I don’t know thing”…and I am getting things tightened up…a lot.  The rest is going to be incredibly helpful.  I anticipating quadrupling my social media expertise.  That is the one thing about social media…it is fun!  It doesn’t need to be serious to be useful!
