This isn’t my normal blog!  It is short and personal.   I am going to tell you about my year…this was one funky year!  Truth- it was the best and the worst all at the same time.

Business was amazing… I am definitely where I am meant to be. Did you ever have something that you worked on and worked on and never got it right?  I have…and I can tell you…if the answers…and even the questions are hard to come up with…then I was doing the wrong thing.

Usually for me. if it didn’t all fit together well… it was something that I was not invested in for one reason or another.  So, the nice thing about The Health Coach Group…it just flows and flows and the answers come naturally and the end product is something to be proud of and they just keep getting better.

1. We went from 500 to 40,000 likes in Facebook…from less than 100 to 2000 on Twitter…and we had a recipe that went viral on Pinterest!
2. Our mailing list is almost 200 x’s bigger!
3. Boy do we have a bunch of good programs to show for this year!
4. We are starting to invest it back into our community.  We are donating to the organizations that support health coaches and with Health Coach University, we are providing free education for health coaches.
5. We established and participated in collaborative efforts that empower the entire community.

Our secret in followers, optins, likes…..an ideal solution (product/program) to the right crowd.  We have a good product and a good reputation.

We did have some opposition- I think it was because we are successful.  We had some copycats.  We  found ways to deal with it.  Those were the bad parts of the year.  The good thing is – if people are prone to copy – they aren’t too prone to original ideas…and our stuff is pretty recognizable.

After 32 years in business…I have become accustomed to working with a perfect team. We are developing a team with the best people who are as interested in the outcome as we are.  Those stories could take up a whole month of blogs!    The Health Coach Group is getting there – we are aligning ourselves with people who will still be working with us in 30 years.

The nice thing about having such a successful year, we can put more into next year.  We are investing in and developing programs that answer the problems of health coaches.  We have such an engaged group of health coaches, it is so nice to be able to ask for feedback, ideas and requests and…get them.  It is definitely easier coming up with good ideas…and making old ideas better when we have so much help!

Last year I selected a word of the year….SERVICE…The idea was to consider service in every decision and step that we took.  If I were to give us a report card…I would give us an A most of the time…and at times of tremendous growth…it was still good, we just had moments where we needed to add resources to handle the needs of our clients.

I think we excelled at creating solutions.

Business was good.

My personal life was good.

With a couple exceptions…I did not spend enough time on myself or my family.  I spent too much time with doctors who misdiagnosed – one was a blood disease, the other was a sun allergy.  I am glad to announce that after a bial duct chopped and acid spewing -with torturous pain for 3 days, and my whole summer spent indoors…I have neither.  No blood disease and no allergy to the sun.  It was only a overzealous young doctor…and another who didn’t cut straight…and a developed allergy to a wrinkle cream I have been using for a year.  On the good side – I have lost my fear of pain.  I also have a renewed appreciation for sunshine.

GREAT for 2013- a new grandson, Jackson!  He is fabulous, healthy, chubby and full of joy!

I do need to spend a little less time sitting at my desk…this is definitely going to be in my plans for 2014.  I moved a treadmill into my office.  When I kept getting off to do one more thing…I moved it in front of my monitor…and then, when I started to feel closed in…I put another monitor in.  That helped.   I put a fitbit on and it shamed me into seeing how little I moved.  That may have averted a disaster!   When I got away from work, I moved more and it felt good.  Ideally, I will quit starting to work at 4 a.m. and spend some morning time on me.  I am also going to start playing a little more.

There were lots of good learning opportunities.  There were several social media classes, a blogging course, marketing courses…I have 2 that I need to finish.  You know how it is…it isn’t always available at the times that it is easiest for you to devote the time.  It will be life changing if you can make the time.  I enjoy them…but it is important to get every little thing out of it when spending the time and money on it.

Next week’s blog will be on my plans for 2014.  I am going see if I can come up with a word that serves myself and the business at the same time.  If I can’t…there will be two words.

Wow!!!  No wonder the year went by so quickly!  Here is to 2014!  We are already beginning with a HUGE new program – Physician- Health Coach 12 Week Weight Loss.  This program is going to take EVERYTHING we learned and give the word SERVICE a whole new meaning!

Well this got a lot longer than I thought….so I am going to leave off my gratitude for 2013 – but you can definitely bet that you are on it.  Thank you.
